Pretty Frankenstein - Comedy, Drag, Music
Pretty Frankenstein is an alternative rock/emo/goth/everything in-between group from the East Bay. Made up of members of various ethnic backgrounds and fronted by lifelong Bay Area local, Grey Starr. For years, Grey has been an activist for human rights and the LGBTQ+ community. Being a trans woman of color, they have made sure to use their platform to speak on these issues any chance they get.
As a band, the group has played legendary venues like Yoshi's Oakland, Slim's SF, Uptown Nightclub, The Fillmore SF, and many other Bay Area staples. They've been on 89.5 KPOO Radio, Alt 105.3, KFOG with No Name, and have just recently been featured on a compilation of Rancid Covers produced by Lava Socks and Sell The Heart Records. Currently, they are working on their first in studio album, IN MIRRORS, which will be a chronicling of Grey's coming out as Gender fluid.
Though they do often speak up about political issues, the band also enjoys anything spooky and always looks to make every concert of theirs a Halloween party, no matter what time of year it is. "Picture if Nick Cave or Lux interior of The Cramps had a strange queer child with Divine from Pink Flamingos and that child liked to sing and rap every once in a while" is how Grey has described the band's live performances.
